Weekly Community Silent Meditation

Mondays / Wednesdays / Fridays:  Noon - 12:30 pm

Complementary to our community, the space will be opened three times a week for a 30 minute silent meditation. 

At the beginning of the session, the doors will be closed and a singing bowl will be played to begin the practice; a singing bowl will be played again to close the practice. Some meditation experience recommended.

How to begin a meditation practice

Join us for a 6 week series on how to begin a meditation practice.  

Throughout this series you will:

  • Learn how to adjust your body to feel more at ease in seated posture

  • Explore the mind-body relationship

  • Learn tools to help calm the mind

  • Discover resources that can shift old habits and patterns

  • Expand your sense of self beyond fears and self-judgement

  • Awaken your ability to connect to your own insight and wisdom

  • Develop a daily practice

  • Includes 6 guided meditation downloads to utilize for daily practice.

Intermediate Meditation Series

Join us for a 4 week series on the next level of practice.  

Throughout this series you will:

  • Learn how to overcome obstacles along the path

  • Understand the levels of the mind

  • Discover tools to enhance mental clarity

  • Expand on pranayama practices

  • Explore the five layers of awareness

  • Develop techniques for sustaining a practice

  • Prerequisite: Meditation for Beginners series OR 6 months of daily practice

Living Yoga: Philosophies of Practice

Throughout this series you will:

  • Learn how to unite your awareness to each present moment

  • Discover the primary qualities of nature and how they can shift how we feel

  • Explore the concept of consistency and change in our life

  • Develop tools to nourish our relationship with others and ourselves

Each class will consist of a short talk, gentle seated movement, guided breath work, and seated meditation.  All levels of practice welcome.

Meditation Teacher training

Meditation in the yoga tradition is a universal practice. It is a science of precise techniques and principles for resting the mind. These essential teachings and practices follow a particular order to create a relaxed focus, helping to clear the clutter obstructing our perceptual view, allowing us to live more fully and connected to each moment.  Beyond guiding of relaxation or imagery, meditative state (one pointed focus) is something we are able to find anytime, through seated practice for daily nourishment and cleansing, as well as oneness in each moment of our lives.

Through this 100 hour certification program you will create a strong foundation of yoga theory and principal techniques that will deepen your personal meditation practice, help you learn how to guide others inward, discover how to teach others to establish their own practice, be able to teach all levels, and learn how to infuse different modalities into your teachings and practice.

You will learn:

  • History of meditation in yoga tradition

  • Defining meditation: what it is & what it is not

  • Accommodating seated practice to all bodies

  • Components of creating and holding space for others

  • Discover how to guide through the Koshas

  • Utilizing the tools of yoga practice

  • Asana: gentle body movement

  • Pranayama: breathwork

  • Sequencing & Themes

  • Grounding practices

  • Expanding/Opening practices

  • Chakras & Meditation

  • Yoga Nidra

  • Walking Meditation

  • Mindfulness techniques

  • Japa (mantra) meditation

Program details:

100hr. Meditation Teacher Certification

  • 80 hrs in-class training

  • 20 hrs practice teaching

5 weekends: Sat 9-12 1-4 / Sun 9-12 1-4

Dates: Spring 2019 TBA

Cost:  $999 (Paid in Full) -OR- Payment plan of 5 payments of $250 (due each training weekend)

 

Prerequisite:

  • Meditation for Beginners: how to develop a practice - 6 week series

  • Intermediate Meditation: next level of practice - 4 week series

  • Living Yoga (level 1): philosophies of practice - 4 week series

  • Living Yoga (level 2): philosophies of practice - 4 week series

  • Total: 18 hrs (will be applied to your training hours)

* Previous yoga training is not required

* CEUs available for 200hr.Yoga teachers through the YA
